Pausing

Papua has been a different chapter ... oh it is still Indonesia, indeed.  But it's been a challenging term.

We are back in Canada for home assignment.  These 3 months end our 3rd term with MAF and prepare us for our 4th 4 year term.  It is a time to rest, reflect, and be renewed.  Of course there are funds to raise, medical appointments to attend to, and shopping to be done (to stock up for the years ahead) ... but so far, for me, the change of pace, some space to breath, a different perspective, and familiar surroundings and people are already helping me to revive.

Stay tuned ... more to come.

Simplicity

Living in this foreign developing land, I am keen on searching for and making beauty.

We moved into our first home in 2001 -- a little Canadian townhouse.
In 2004 almost everything we owned fit into a couple of crates and 8 suitcases.

Later that year we began our Indonesian life in a Javanese village rental house with our newborn, a two-year-old, and a host of cockroaches!

From 2005 to 2010 we created 'home' out of a warehouse-like house on Borneo, and then moved to
another Indonesian island where we renovated a house that would have maybe been better excavated?

For about 2 years we were blessed to live in Canada in a huge 2400 square foot house, but then sold, sorted, and packed things up again to fit into 2 crates and 10 suitcases.

We now have lived for over 3 years a 1960's mission's base house on the very far eastern part of Indonesia:  Papua!

We have made 3 moves across the ocean in the past 15 years.  I have organized and purged and packed 15 years of STUFF ... across…
